True Blood Blog Bonanza (Spoiler Alert)
Bloggers are buzzing about True Blood--not only because its stars, Anna Paquin (who plays Sookie) and Stephen Moyer (who plays Bill), got married in real life this weekend ("The couple met on the True Blood set and begin dating early into the first season, but did not reveal their relationship until last year," notes Jaunted), but also because they appear naked and bloody on the new cover of Rolling Stone. "Stone has matched Vanity Fair blow-for-blow as the go-to magazine when stars want to get their gear off," says MTV Newsroom, noting the other stars (Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, among others) who've appeared there in the nude. "It's nice to know that Rolling Stone magazine is looking out for those of us who love seeing sexy, bloody naked people," says TV Squad. Facebook Places Makes Bloggers Fear Friends
Facebook has launched Places, a location check-in program, in partnership with Gowalla, Foursquare, Yelp, and Booyah. "The key feature of Facebook Places is the number of users that are suddenly impacted. Tens of millions of people across the US will now be able to share their location with their friends for the first time ever (of course they could have always joined one of the existing services, but they didn't)," says O'Reilly Radar. Business Insider checks out the implications of Places: "Google is nowhere in the social game--and its chances of getting somewhere diminish every day....Foursquare, Gowalla, and other pioneers in the check-in business are now likely to become ancillary applications with more limited appeal." Of course, not everyone's happy about Places: Lifehacker immediately posted on how to disable it, while Gawker notes that friends can check you into places too, and thinks of "a couple situations off the top of our head where someone else tagging you could bring social doom." "The idea that someone else can check me into a venue is a horrifyingly bad idea," says Fresh Ground. "In a wonderful perfect world where everyone is actually friends and no one plays practical jokes, this would work. And if you live in a place like that please let me know."
